Lorna's Laces Northbrook

This week I've been working on beaded socks.

Here's a size Medium started with Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in colour Northbrook, and 5 mm green wood pony beads.

Lorna's Laces St Charles

Here's another of the new Lorna's Laces colourways I got this year: St Charles, in Shepherd Sock (80% Merino 20% Nylon fingering). An interesting combination of oranges, greens, purples and earth tones.

Definitely of the Jazzy persuasion!

This pair is size Medium, knit with the 72 needle cylinder and 36 ribber on the Verdun 47. Reverse e-wrap selvedge on a 1 x 1 topper; leg and foot in full stockinette.

On my monitor, the top two photos are leaning (incorrectly) red, while the bottom two are truer to the burnt orange.

Lorna's Laces Worcester

Another newer colourway from Lorna's Laces - Worcester. Here in Shepherd Sock (of course). Good grief can you imagine if you had this in a worsted weight. Worcester Worsted! Your tongue would be tripping all over the place.

This is another colourway that I find provides lots of interest in the mix without going flashy.

The pairing of browns and greys make for a versatile accessory that will work with many colours in the wardrobe.

This pair is a Medium +, knit with the 72 cylinder and 36 ribber on the Verdun 47, using a 1 x 1 topper and 5x1 leg and instep.

Lorna's Laces DuPage

The lilacs were in full bloom at the farm this week, and the lavender bushes are sprouting their growth of the season. So it was a good week to knit with Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in DuPage which has a beautiful blend of these colours.

This pair is size Medium, knit with the 72 cylinder and 36 ribber on the Verdun 47. A 1x1 ribbed topper and full stockinette leg and foot.

Lorna's Laces Black Purl

Here's one of the new-to-me colours from my recent Lorna's Laces haul - Black Purl - here in Shepherd Sock (80% Merino 20% Nylon).
As a sock knitter, if I was forced to pick one single colour, and have that colour in every sock yarn, it would have to be purple. Not that I wear it much myself, but its the most frequent request I get at craft sales and shows.

Here's a pair I knit for DS's birthday: in size Medium +, knit with 72 cylinder and 36 ribber on the Verdun 47. Done with a 1 x 1 top and 5x1 leg and instep.

Holy Donny Osmond!

These are a little wilder than what I normally knit for DS, but I've been recently informed that he's not as conservative as what I've thought.

Oh my.

Lorna's Laces Jeans

There's a contest going on over at Simply Socks where you name your two favourite Lorna's Laces colours and possibly win some free yarn.

At first blush this seems like an easy contest, but I would agonize for days and days to try and narrow my favs from LL down to two!

New colours are always exciting, but I have quite a few favs that I've had since day one of my sock knitting journey.

One of those is Jeans, and I've happily received a topping up supply along with some new colours I ordered recently.

This, like most of my Lorna's knitting, is Shepherd Sock, 80% Merino 20% Nylon, 430 yards/100g.

This is a colourway that stands the test of time. As long as folks wear blue jeans this is a sock yarn that will appeal to many.

This is size Medium + (mens 10 shoe) knit with the 72 cylinder and 36 ribber on the Verdun 47. This version has a 1x1 ribbed topper, then 5x1 leg and instep.
