Oh, Deer

On the way home from church Christmas morning. 6 deer in the field at the bottom of our hill, running parallel to the truck. DW was able to snap a pic with her phone.

There is quite as crust on the snow so they were expending a lot of energy in this run. That crust will make them slower and vulnerable to the coyotes and wolves.  However the crust will slow the predators down as much as the prey as it is fairly thin and has plenty of soft sinking snow underneath. (Jesse and I both had a time with it on my snowshoeing hike.)
