Because I did NOT get up at 4 a.m.
And I did NOT go to Keady (farmers') Market.
I decided to nurse a bad cold and knit socks instead, as panic sets in getting prepared for the big artisan show this weekend. ( I no longer panic about small shows and markets ;o) )
I kitchenered the toes on the Eco Socks I made yesterday.

I only got one pair made yesterday. The good folks from Edy's Mills Fine Fibres (in Oil Springs, Ontario) dropped by and that pretty much blew the rest of the day. I don't see an URL on their card but I'm sure they have one. Will post if I find it.
They have a Mini-Mills set up and have made felt for me from lambs' fleeces. They are also into alpacas, yarns, and, you know.
THEN came a call
from the computer repair place that I could come and get my computer, and thus return from no-speed to slow-speed. Yay.
I spent last night hooking up the jumble of cables and wires and everything seems to work EXCEPT MY $#$#*^$! MONITOR. They replaced the graphics card (and hard drive) and the new card isn't compatible with my monitor. I'm on a 800 x 600 instead of 1280 x 1024. I have to scroll to read the word 'blog'!!! Even for my feeble eyes I have to walk to the back of the room to read the screen!
Waiting to hear back from them....
Back to Knitting
This morning I got two more pair of Eco Socks done. Here is the first:

The second pair is still on the machine.
I have to haul water to the sheep this afternoon, and may get another pair cranked out tonight if I don't sniffle to death in the meantime.
Now Here's a Sight for Sore Eyes

This a skiing shell I bought in Austria in 19-you-know-when. I actually wore it a few times last winter as these colours started making a return to the slopes.
And what has this got to do with anything?
Look here:
And to answer a few questions from past comments:
My Cone Yarn - I get this spun at a variety of mills, depending on what gauge of yarn and what the fibre content is. Mills tend to specialize and I go accordingly. I don't sell it. I am limited by the size of my flock and thus far I am barely able to meet my own requirements.
The Socks I Wear. Well - yes I do wear my own socks, from plain (natural) to wild and crazy. The only thing they all have in common is: Size Large and they are all 'seconds' - socks that I've made a goof on.
Fortunately (???) I make lots of goofs, so have a good supply of socks.
The only pair that aren't seconds is a pair I made when I was running late for an engagement and didn't have any clean socks to wear. It was quicker to make a pair than to launder a pair.
Go figure!

So, is there a pair of CabinCove highlighter socks in your future, to match that shell? ;-)
I sure love those Eco-socks -- so fun to look at. You know the sock on the left in the first pair almost matches the sock on the right of the second pair. But I supposed they're all interchangeable, which is the fun of the random stripes.
Would that we hand knitters could "only" crank out one pair of socks a day. I'm still pretty darn impressed with how WendyKnits cranks out one or two pairs a week!
Feel better.
Wow, when I saw that shell, I said to myself that I have the perfect yarn for it! That was really funny.
And I like the eco socks. I'll have to remember that.
